Background
The majority of desktop computers around the world run various versions of the Windows operating system. When it comes to servers, it is a different story. Well over 50% of web servers and application servers run the Linux operating system, with many more running different flavours of proprietary Unix.

Linux is under constant development and is at the leading edge of technology for many internet uses, such as web servers, mail servers, file servers, firewalls, etc. Best of all Linux is virtually free with none of the license fees that apply to proprietary operating systems.

Experience
Intech use the Apache web server for most of our web projects. Similarly we use the standard Linux utilities such as sendmail for email servers, samba for file servers, iptables for firewall projects etc. We use the Raima database engine from Birdstep for most of our database projects. We use our own product Dialafile to do telephone polling of other systems or PC's or EPOS systems.
